Staff Writers Morgans Go Travelling's Long-Term Travel Itinerary

The Morgan family on the plane
Today's post is the second article published by our staff writers, Morgans Go Travelling.

When planning for our trip to decide where we would visit we had to first determine how long we would be travelling for and what kind of budget we would need. We had a rough idea of where we wanted to go, and used our overall budget to determine how long we could visit each destination for.

We decided on travelling for 13 months that way we could be home in time for the start of the school year 2016.  With 13 months in mind, and a budget of around $80,000 AUD, we came up with our itinerary for the year.

Living the Dream's Travel-Inspired Christmas Tree

Living the Dream wishes you a Merry Christmas

What happens when you spend a year-and-a-half traveling around the world, collecting a bunch of cheap knickknacks along the way?  If your collection is anything like ours, there is really only one reason for it: Christmas!

We spent a good portion of our time shopping around the world seeking out unique and kitschy items to build one of the most incredible travel inspired Christmas trees ever.  With 38 countries visited, and one ornament per country, you can imagine that we were very excited to put up our tree this Christmas now that we are finally home.

With that, we'd like to share our travel inspired Christmas tree with you in this holiday themed post!

#myRTW: The Mountains of Iran with Heart My Backpack

Heart My Backpack in Iran
The interview series #myRTW coincides with our hash-tag of the same name which is featured on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest.  Our aim with the series is simple: to show off the world's amazing destinations that long-term travelers have enjoyed on the road!

In each entry of this series, participating RTW travelers highlight one experience or destination they consider a favorite from their trip and share what they loved about it.

Today's #myRTW interview features Silvia from Heart My Backpack.  Her long-term trip took her to twenty-seven countries over two years in Central Asia, Southeast Asia, East Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the Caucasus.  For her, the experience she recalls as a favorite was visiting Iran in March 2014.

In his words, Silvia describes her time in the country...

Exploring Iceland The Right Way

Filled, unsurprisingly, with ice (the country is an estimated 10% glaciers), Iceland has midnight suns in the summer and near total darkness in the winter, while the popularity of its thermal springs, volcanoes, geysers and lagoons never wanes. See folk museums and pretty, colorful houses in Iceland's economic and cultural capital of Reykjavik. Come to see the Northern Lights, plan a road-trip, and don't forget car excess insurance direct- a necessity in this surface-of-the-moon type terrain.  (Photo "Scartifoss 1" by criscris1)
